Values are an integral component to any organization in supporting healthy positive and goal-oriented interactions and relationships.
Our management team worked together and gathered feedback at our All Staff Meeting to come up with a core six values that we feel speak to who we are and strive to be with each other and in our work here:
Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Transparency, Accountability and Innovation/Flexibility.
We are working hard to live them every day, with each other in meetings, trainings, discussions and fun activities. These values have always been a part of who ARCC is and are why we have attracted such competent, dedicated and amazing employees.
Since 1974, Alum Rock Counseling Center (ARCC) has addressed the damage of family conflict, school failure and delinquency among high-risk youth, producing responsible community members and a healthier, more vibrant East San Jose. ARCC offers practical, proven solutions to families when and where they need them most.
We employ a strategic service delivery system that is unique among service agencies, which places programs in homes, schools, and community centers in order to maximize their impact and effectiveness. ARCC embraces the youth of our community who are at highest risk for academic failure and a life in the criminal justice system—youth that, in many cases, the rest of the community has written off. The agency’s programs are distinctively tailored to the needs of East San Josè families, and provide a personal touch to go with our professional expertise and aims to reach its goal of “creating responsible adults from East San Jose’s highest risk youth.” For over 34 years, our staff and volunteers deliver outstanding measurable results:
During the 2011-2012 fiscal year:
- 94% of all youth served by a gang intervention program successfully halted their involvement with the juvenile justice system or avoided it altogether.
- 96% of all youth served by a mobile crisis response program did not require follow-up interventions by police or juvenile justice authorities.
- 75% of all students participating in our Truancy Reduction Program (TRS) reported an increased commitment to staying in school and graduating from high-school.
